NC6000 Wireless disabled

I have a NC6000 and have no way of enabling the Wireless card. The Wireless button does nothing - any ideas?

Re: NC6000 Wireless disabled

I have a similar issue with a NX6110. The wireless power button does nothing. The "blue light" does not come on.

There is a Stop error in the System event log #602: WDM Reader driver initialization cannot open reader device: The system cannot find the path specified.

There is also a device called Packet Scheduler Miniport #4 in the Network Adapters section of the Device manager that has an error and will not let me delete it to reinstall it. Says it may device may be required for the PC to boot up.

Re: NC6000 Wireless disabled

A quick follow up for my issue. I was able to resolve this issue by jumping through the following hoops..

1. Check the status of the wireless adapter in the BIOS. (mine was disabled for some reason.) :-/

2. Then I just reinstalled the laptop with a fresh XP install. Not the system restore disk.

3. After XP is installed, only update the drivers for the WiFi adapter, don't use the extra utilities. The MS utilities work just fine.

Hope that helps, it worked for me.

Re: NC6000 Wireless disabled

This is not a great solution because many of us either don't have XP or the option to just simply reinstall the OS.

We need a specific solution that resolves the issue LESS DRASTICALLY.

Re: NC6000 Wireless disabled

Just an FYI, I have an NX6110 w/ a Intel PRO/Wireless adapter and I was having a similar issue. Comes to be that when you plug in the wired connection it disables the wireless connections.

Not sure if this applies to the Broadcom wireless adapter....

Re: NC6000 Wireless disabled

I have the same problem.
I use Compaq nc6000.I bought the laptop as a fairly used one.i decided to give it to technician to format and partition the drivers. It was then i noticed that i led does not switch on again.I pressed the wireless led button there is not sign of a wireless dievice or signal in my system.
Secondly, I use a sky dude web cam and when i am chatting on yahoo, the web-cam does not broadcast.I am also looking or searching for a driver for that.

Hi!
I had the same problem. Registrated here just to help you out (I hope).

Make sure your wired network works and is connected.
Intall driver for wireless network.
When you restart your nc6000 press F10 to enter the ROM Based Setup and follow the steps below.
Go to Security -> Device Security -> Wireless netwok button and set the value to Enable.
Press F10 to accept changes.
Go to File -> Save changes and exit, press F10 for Yes.
Start Windows.
Press the wireless button.
Now to the strange part: the "Found New Hardware Wizard" will start and if you let it search for drivers automatically it will install a driver for "Bloetooth for hp". Nevertheless the wireless network will now work (incl. the button).

Hope this helps
