Network Bridge on Windows XP

While working with many routers such as Linxus, Belkin, Netgear etc, many a times it is required to turn off the network bridge enabled on Windows XP computer, because it creates connection issues and I fail to ping to these routers. All these routers have DHCP server. Once the network bridge is removed everything works perfectly and my problem gets resolved but I am unable to figure out what feature of network bridge creates such connection issues. I did some homework and realised that apart from layer 2 bridging it also makes use of layer 3 bridging. But I am unable to determine how would it affect my network card from communicating. Network bridges are supposed to make life simpler. If anyone would give me a specific answer to my query, it shall truly be very helpful. My routers have the latest firmware and windows is updated to its best service pack.

Re: Network Bridge on Windows XP

Check out your DHCP leases duration. Once half of it is gone, your bridge starts to try to renew the lease. If several servers handle the same address range, then you indoubtedly come to have connection issues, as it will unactivate your NIC features and IP, looking for this renewal to complete ...
