Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

The notebook runs hot so I bought a $10 cooler long ago. The motherboard issue has to do with heat from all the reading I've done.

Anyway I was trying to be helpful, but it seems like this forum is for those who'd rather complain about their issues. Good luck!

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Hi MAP!

Can you tell me exactly how you removed the wireless card? I wish I would hav eknown this procedure before my TX1000 went totally dead on me. But just out of curiosity I am wondering how to go about doing this. Maybe I can revive my laptop.
Thank You.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I have a HP TX1320Us which is a one of the most expensive laptop out there. I had got it Dec 2006 for 1300$.
I got the laptop and excitedly opened it and i see the wireless isnt working and the harddrive is making crazy noise and the laptop is over heating.
So i call HP and very generously they repair my laptop and send it back to me.
Guess what in 6 months i get the same issue again and now i am pissed and i call HP they agree to help me and they send me a box i send them a laptop and its been repaired. They promised me i will get my laptop in 9 to 12 business days its 14 business days and i didnt get the laptop i got pissed and they compensated by offering me a 4 year warranty. The laptop comes back the next day and i check eveything is working fine.
Than in 4 months the laptop starts acting funny over heating, wireless problem. I have to restart my computer again and again to start the wireless, one time its working and suddenly it stops and i have to restart than. First i had to restart the computer once in a 2 days than the time span got shorted 1 days and than every 3 hours and than it just stopped. Mean while i called HP everyday to talk to some one who can help but all of them wanted me to do trouble shooting and than they tell me to restart the comp and it starts working again. But than in 2 hrs again the same issue. So once i got really pissed and told a phillipono guy to send me a box to repair. He sends me the box i send it to repair i get it back in 5 days and open the box see everything working for forst 5 hrs than same problem again. My case was escalated to the case manager and she (April Naylor) helped me understand everything and took care of my issue. I liked the way she handled my call. She issued me a replacement and that made me releived that i dont have to deal with any more issues of this laptop any more. So now i am still waiting on April Naylor case manager to provide me with a Order number or a tracking number and my laptop is almost going to die i can feel it. I called her a couple of times but i am not able to get hold of her its disturbing. I dont have her email address nor can talk to her on the phone as shes to busy!
She says i should get my new laptop by December 5 2008 and i am in such a problem i have no laptop and without laptop i am in deep trouble ad i take virtual classes and work from home too so my complete work is dependent on laptop. I hope they understand it.

Well more than this i also told April to transfer my 4 years warranty to the new laptop and she has agreed + I want to talk to her and let her know i have bough a windows vista ultimate so can i install that on the new laptop which i get.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

To HP:
Broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi Adapter is
not working. However, if the computer is turned off for several hours (over
night) it will 'occasionally' connect wireless for several minutes up to an
hour or 2, then it shuts off and will not reconnect even with a restart. The
computer is working hard wired from the router. The wireless
on/off switch has remained on blue, I reset it several times, occasionally
"wireless assistant" will show it is off when it is on even though the
switch is on with a blue light. When it is manually turned on from "wireless assistant"
the connection problem does not resolve. At any given time the network settings, device manager change without being reset. The adapter will show in the device manager, then vanish.
Trouble shooting : I have done everything listed on your HP trouble shooting
page;
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00813382&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=
us〈=en&rule=5620&product=3439723

Including updating drivers using Windows update as well as the computers
Driver update with no success.
Finally doing a full HP_RECOVERY (D) to original.
With every obvious step taken in between from Network connections. I have since done a BIOS installation per HP Total Care without resolution.

The computer/wireless had functioned perfectly since being
purchased 7/26/07 until a month ago. I do not use this computer for travel,
it has only been used in various rooms in my home and has always received
the wireless signal. I have read several message boards online relating to this
issue, including HP forums.

http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1228073030528+28353475&threadId=1188907

I do have several other wireless computers, all are connecting
wirelessly.

This computer is becoming increasingly glitchy, and is running unusually hot.

â ¢ History (Any Previous Escalation): Called cable company. Purchased a new router, although this computer worked fine hardwired on both the old and new routers.

â ¢ Did the unit ever function correctly? For approximately 15 to 16 months (it is hard to tell since I initially thought it was a cable/router issue), which seems to be a little better than average according to the HP forums I have read. Although this computer was only used approximately half of that time. This HP was one of my home personal computers, I did not use it at/for work. It was shut off during the day.

â ¢ If so when did the problem start? Late October 2008, initially I thought it was a cable company issue, then a router issue. I originally stated mid November of 2008 but in retrospect it had been a few weeks to a month longer.

â ¢ Did you add or change anything around that time? No, other than 'automatic windows update' which automatically installs approved updates.

â ¢ Additional information: (EG. Added Software or Hardware, or other pertinent information) Not to the HP laptop. A new home router that was clearly not the problem and an unnecessary cost.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Like so many of you, I'm having the exact same problem. Have sent the computer in three times for repair (twice the system board was replaced and once the wireless card was replaced) and HP has twice sent me replacement wireless cards so that I could reinstall for myself.

My laptop is now about 10 days out of warranty and the problem has happened again -- wireless is completely gone (no matter what I do), and now I'm even having trouble connecting via ethernet.

I have spoken numerous times with the HP Chat people who are, at best, not helpful at all and, at worst, extremely rude. A case manager was supposed to call last week, but I've heard nothing.

We need to all band together in order to be recognized by HP. There are more than enough of us who are experiencing this problem to be recognized by HP.

Since HP has an 'A' rating with the Better Business Bureau, it appears that they take their BBB reputation seriously.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

My motherboard just died...

FWIW, I had a tx1000 for two years. I bought a small notebook because I travel a lot, hence some wear and tear, but still... During those years:
- I had to change the power supply once, then fix the connector myself since it broke again;
- I had to change it when two keys stopped working ;
- the wireless stopped working a few months back; after a month of it going off each time the computer went on standby, the bios update might have made it work, but then the fan kept at an unbearable level (and the laptop was still burning hot);
- the hard drive failed a month ago;
- finally, the motherboard died.

In a way, I'm relieved, I'll stop figthing and get something else. Maybe I'll get an HP and an extended warranty, and have them replace all the pieces every year. I can't do that: I still need to work sometimes.
Best of luck to you all.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Same problem with me.

Have a tx1270eo

First the wireless lost after hibernating.
(got it to start again after restarting pc)

Then 5 months later
Now wireless card disappeared completely.
- can only find the bluetooth

Did reinstall everything from scratch and it started to work gain for 2 days - but then it stopped again - maybe if skipping the updates of all drivers and software will keep it working?

Anyone, solutions yet?

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Strange that this problem seems to happen around the same time of the year. I hibernated a few hours ago, and now I have this exact same problem. Wireless is amber color, doesn't receive any wifi.

I'm pretty sure customer support will be a waste of time, and I've read every single post here and haven't heard many success stories. I guess the only thing to do is uninstall the drivers, reboot the computer to default settings, then contact support if all else fails.

I have the one year warranty and it has only been 8 months. I'll post an update within the next couple of days.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I do own HP pavilion tx 1000 and on Dec 24 my wireless adaptor got dissapeared. Now I can't use the internet and it seems this is a occuring problem to all. Not sure what to do. I called HP twice, and frankly speaking, the help support are idiots. Service is bad. Didn't get any help at all and eventhought I wanted to pay $49. My warrantee has expired 15 days ago and I am now stuck with a notebook that paid $1,400 a year ago. PLEASE HELP.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

HP still won't recognize the problem

Another TX1000 owner whose wireless became flaky last week and now is totally out. "Phoenix" from HP just gave me this answer
"there is not much reported issue with your notebook model"
after spending an hour pointing out various forums (including HP's own).
Do they honestly believe we should be buying new laptops every 14 months?
I'm going to keep arguing my case, but I doubt it'll do any good.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Hey Danny...

We have exactly the same problem and HP isn't doing anything about it. My warranty also expired days ago. HP made a piece of crap that can be use for a year.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Whoa!
This problem is around since more than a year but still HP has not done anything about it, I mean no solution. I am facing same problem, my tx1000 wireless plays hide and seek. Contacted the customer care, did everything they suggested that include restoring to factory setting, updating BIOS and installing broadcom driver etc. but nothing helps.
Now I have send the laptop to their service center, but worried after reading some comments that sometime they might do more harm than good. Hope that the problem gets solved soon.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Hi,

I have the same problem, have a tx1218 and the wireless adapter just disappears and after like 5 or 6 times of talking to HP, they never have a solution and they just put their hands up saying there is no problem.

I say that the only way we can get HP to do something is have this problem put out all over in the media. This will notify the public of how HP really is and then HP might MIGHT do something about our problems.

I would like to know if there has been anything released by HP for this problem yet, if not im ready to file a law suit n also going to the media about this to notify the public about HP.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Hi, I have a TX 1420us and for at least one month ago mi computer is having the same problems with the wirless connection.
The computer does not detect the wifi device like it was'nt installed. I alreaddy try to reintall it and even made a recovey of all the system to it's original factry conditions, but the wireless is still missing.
My partner buy another TX model, the 1410us, and know he has the same problem. The warranty is still running until March so we both would like for HP to replace the motherbords or the computers. Is seems to be the only solution at the end.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Diego!

That always happens first then after getting that fixed maybe that would run well for about a couple of months then eventually you laptop will stop working or some sort. Everybody has the same problem.

We need to do something with this. This is really a piece of crap. I really don't understand why they're not doing anything with this problem and on the other side those who owns the DV series they have extended their warranty. And this two products have the same configuration (except the tablet option of the TX).

We have to take action and fight for out rights as costumers.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I have the same issue. My wireless card crapped out after nearly one and a half years of use. I have tried Ubuntu, Vista, and XP. They all do not see the wireless card. It had become clear that there is a hardware problem here. The amber light is illuminated and bluetooth is still active. What a headache.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Same thing just happened to my laptop. Went to turn it on one morning and the screen would not turn on. I called hp and they are taking no responsibility for the situation. I actually just bought one last month for my mother.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I was able to resolve this wireless issue today. Hopefully it works for you guys too.

I uninstalled my HP Wireless Assistant because I read somewhere that it was the one that triggers the shutdown of the wireless card.

Anyway, right-click My Computer and click manage. Go to Services and look for Net Driver HPZ12. This service should be Started and in Automatic mode. If it isn't, then right click it, click on properties, pick Automatic from the list, click on apply then click on Start. Afterwards, make sure you restart your laptop. Once your laptop is on, make sure your wireless is on as well(look for little wireless sliding button, in my case it was on the right front panel of my laptop... blue light=on, orange light=off).

Hopefully this helps...

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

hey guys! glad there's a forum about this issue.

my specs
========
general model : HP Pavilion tx1000
specific model: tx1213au

problem:
========
wireless adapter is not showing or detected. only bluetooth works.

somehow i managed to fix it TWICE!

SOLUTION 1:
===========
go to DEVICE MANAGER in control panel.

sometimes, BROADCOM(your wireless adapter) is not detected so just go to ACTION and choose SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES. then, my wireless adapter is detected after that, it works fine.

SOLUTION 2 (if solution 1 doesn't work):
========================================
go to DEVICE MANAGER in control panel.

look under the NETWORK ADAPTERS tab.

in my case, there was a faulty driver called DIALOGIC DIVA BRI-2 PCI which i tried updating it but didn't fix the problem. so i just uninstalled that driver and restart my laptop.

once windows start, my broadcom adapter driver begins to install and then my wireless network works!

analysis: i think that faulty driver (DIALOGIC DIVA BRI-2 PCI) was what keeping the Broadcom adapter from starting up.

extra solution:
===============
give it a whack! LOL just kidding. [just ignore this solution LOL]

up to you to try and save your laptop! by the way, i think my method is safe because i don't have to uninstall any unnecessary software.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

well, my laptop has passed the 2 years mark and the wireless thing is just one of the problems im facing.

now, its the CPU, like it randomly slows down(damn slow!) and i have to tweak it so that it works normally under 'HP recommended' power plan.

another thing is, when i switch it on, sometimes it takes a long time for it to go to the logon screen.

i guess the motherboard is gonna burn out pretty soon.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I recently had the same problem on my HP Pavillion dv2125nr. Tuesday afternoon it was working and then at 10 pm that night it was gone. Could not find wireless connection anywhere. The light stayed orange even when the wireless was switched on. I found online where HP recognizes this problem on this laptop, but when I called the time limit expired last December. I was told by a tech from India, that there was a problem with the motherboard overheating and burning up the wireless card...and there was nothing they could do. But I still could send my laptop in for repairs at at cost of $398.00 plus whatever charges they want to add. This is a problem that just occured and HP should stand behind their product whenever it breaks down...I may have just bought my last HP computer. What does it cost to have a motherboard replaced?

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

HP is refusing to acknowledge the defects in their hardware that spread far beyond just those that they will fix out of warranty.

The fix they will apply will also likely only be temporary, and if you are a tx1000 series laptop owner for example, you will have to pay for that fix only to have your laptop die again.

later,
