TX1000 Wireless Problem

I have the tx1417cl and I had the problem with the wireles card, windows wont see the hardware, first it stopped working and started working after I restarted the notebook, then it worked for a little while and amber light again!!! I reinstaled the drivers, and got blue light and everything was cool, but suddenly ..... amber light once again!! and afte that nothing worked in order to fix the issue!!! this is a call to hp to do something about it and try to get back all the clients trust.

Hey Guys .. I also saw the same problem with my pavillion tx-t000 last week .. updated BIOS, drivers and everything .. then tried to contact HP service center .. the only thing that guy told me was to buy a new one from them and they would me give me high discounts .. but they really din't hv any solution to this problem .. anyway ... this is how it worked out for me ... Check that windows update is enabled on your machine ... check for the available updates ... in the list you should see an optional update for Nvidia Network Controller .. install that. Then reintall the broadcom and HP wireless driver avaialble on HP.com .. Restart and BINGO!!! your system is wireless again (atleast it worked for me) and hope it works for you too ...

Please come back and update this forum when your TX dies again (which should probably be next week or week after).

It would be misleading for people to think that there's such a solution, where there is none. Everybody in the forum has tried all such suggestions. If you read the forum, you'll see that people have resorted to soldering their boards themselves :|

Hello All,

I tried the procedure outlined in the post by Jason Shay on May 31, 2009. I did not have the screen problem just the wireless problem. Now my wireless works. I used a piece of pure copper stock that I had instead of the penny on the heatsink. Unless you have some experience in servicing equipment of this type I would suggest that you find someone who does to help.

I have a year and a half old tx1320us in the last 2 months the samsung HD has gone bad and now the wireless card is not detected. I have tried the various fixes on several different forums with no results.

Isn't it apparent that there is a SERIOUS problem with the TX series along with several other of your computers?

I was a very happy HP customer in the past... I was ALWAYS impressed with your computers... When I purchased my TX1410 I was absolutely ecstatic but it has come out that your "best line of computers" (as customer service told me) is actually NOT the best line. The computers have FAILED us.

HP, do the right thing. RECALL these computers... Give us our money back. You could do the right thing and walk out of this with people saying "HP did the right thing"...

Might as well add my name to the list of victims. Just happened last week and just beyond the warranty period. We actually liked HP up until now. Just bought a mini, but from the extent of this problem, I anticipate that the wireless on this computer will eventually faulter as well. We are now resolved to the fact that our next computer will be a MAC. Not that they are perfect either, but we have friends and family with MACs who have been very happy for years.

Unfortunately, the MAC is a year out and I am still determined to join in the ranks to get HP to do something about this. Having to go out and purchase a USB wireless adapter, if that is the only solution, should not be at my expense.

At least I know I'm not alone - my HP Pavilion tx1000 lost its wifi today and I've tried several things short of restoring it and no luck. I guess I'll back up the info on it. I have another HP that is also doing strange things. I think it's time to find another brand of computer/laptop to buy.

Alright, first off i am convinced this problem is related to the power settings being controlled by three different sources. one being the HP wireless Assistant software, second the bios boot option for the wireless adapter, and third the vista advanced power options...the machine is confused!

After several long weeks of working on this problem - there is one simple solution that has worked for me. it works through sleep mode, restarts, whatever - like it should!

UNINSTALL THE HP WIRELESS ASSISTANT!!!!!

reboot and voila! I get a little message that says broadcom 802.g blah blah blah has been successfully installed!

a few things also that I did in the past few days that may have something to do with fixing it also. I am no computer wizard so forgive me if i sound elementary. And beliee me, if i can do this, so can you..

1. I went to this address from my phone (htc ozone) smart phone and downloaded the broadcom wireless fix executable file from the HP support site. here is the url:

after i downloaded it to my phone, i used my still working bluetooth connection to beam it to my laptop. it didn't help anything by itself, but after running the broadcom software, resetting my bios to defaults and UNINSTALLING THE HP WIRELESS ADVISOR, everything seems back to normal.

I can't think of anything else I did other than unplug the power supply after uninstalling the hp wireless advisor before restarting it.. so restart the computer on battery power only.

synopsis.

uninstall the hp wireless advisor

unplug power supply

restart computer.

if that doesn't work, somehow get the broadcom lan installer software onto your affected laptop and run it then follow the prevvious three steps...

and if you're wondering why some of my words are either missing or havve double letters,, its' because my entire bottom row of keys don't work. I LOVE HP!

I precisely got my TX1270eo back from repair it is 2 years old

The overall problem is that the processor overheats and that will eventually make the different components to lose contact with the motherboard and finally you will not be able to use the laptop â starting will only be possible when it is cold â since the laptop prevents it from starting when worm â finally it will die and not restart.

Same story ass all of you!

1. After less than a year I started having problem with the wireless
2. Then the wireless died after maybe a total of 15 months usage.
3. Starting to have problems restarting when warm
4. Problem starting at all (the power on button started but not the laptop)
5. Finally was not able to start at all due to many restarts with warm laptop and crash due to that.
6 Channing of motherboard and now it works fine again

Same problem here. My tx1327 cl is out of warranty, so I paid the $50 for phone tech support, she told us we needed a new wireless card, so we paid $75 for that. Guess what? Still no wireless! No "fixes" have done anything!

Same problem Here. I have a tx1205us.
First, the overheating problem, solved opening the laptop once in a while and removing the dust.

Now, the wireless problem, I thought it was just a configuration problem but knowing it is a common issue, this is for sure faulty hardware.

The fix list below works I just did it on my tx 1000 and am now downloading bios updates,health check updates and software updates via the wireless adapter.

Hello,

I have a dv6000 laptop and my wireless driver, also, vanished without a trace. I went on Google and Yahoo and looked around to find any way on fixing this problem. I have read what other people have done and never worked. However I have found something interesting. When reinstalling the driver for the wireless and restarting the computer the wireless appears until the next restart/stand-by/hibernation. I have noticed that some of the configuration files get overwritten by either Windows or maybe an update. I do not know what is causing the files to be overwritten but because of that the computer can not recognize the wireless driver. So I have tried my own method of fixing this without sending the computer to be serviced which, by the way, some people have reported that sending it to be fixed with a new system board does not work. So here is my method and hopefully it will work for you. I have restarted my computer several times and each time the wireless driver is detected and running.

1) Restart the computer and enter into Safe Mode.
2) Uninstall the wireless driver from Control Panel.
3) Goto Program Files in your C drive and look for the Broadcom folder and delete it. Make sure that you remove it from the Recycle Bin too. Also you should have the latest version of the driver. (Boardcom 4.100.15.5) The HP website has this available (sp34152.exe). [Get the driver downloaded on your computer before doing any of these steps] In the SWSetup folder there should be a folder named WLAN delete all the files in there and replace it (copy and paste) the Boardcom files that you downloaded.
3) Restart the computer and enter into Safe Mode again.
4) Reinstall the driver. Check in Device Manager to see if the driver is there. If not then restart the computer and enter in Safe Mode again. The computer should see the wireless driver now.
5) In the C:\ProgramFiles\Boardcom there would be several system and configuration files. Right click on each of them and make the files Read-Only and click OK. The computer is going to give you an error. Ignore it and click on Cancel. Go back to the properties and you will see that the files are now Read-Only. Also goto C:\Windows\system32\drivers and look for a file named bcmwl5.sys and right click on the file and goto properties and make that file Read-Only.
6) Restart the computer and enter the computer in normal mode. The wireless driver should be installed and in the device manager and working 100%.

Follow up on my previous link for some background.
I bought this tx1308 on ebay.
It had no hard drive or ram.
I bought ram and harddrive, loaded xp it all worked except the wireless adapter.
I shelled out the money for the recovery disc from HP. did a recovery install, it all worked great including the wireless untill It started loading all the updates and fixes. Then I noticed that it would work on and off depending on where it was in the boot uo sequence until finally after if finished loading all the updates it no longer worked at all.

Going through the process of diagnosing teh problem I found the Nvidia network controller driver loaded. Trying to remove it did not work because it always reloaded it`s self. Following the chemists approach of deleting the (i just renamed it) and copying the broadcom drivers to the wlan folder and rebooting solves the problem. the system is clearly missidentifing the hardware and loading the wrong driver.

Good luck, I have been happy with the two tx2000 I own and hopefully I will be happy with this tx 1000 that I w«nt to give to my daughter to use.

..all new hp have overheating problem because of concentration on external look to attract more customers so designer forgot to find solution to take heat down and specially in this tx1xxx models wifi slot located most of times on battery plug means near the mosfet rectifier as known in notebooks motherboards the battery connected to the circuit directly, i think after while some pins come out and need resoldering..Or maybe all the slot need replacement which is very difficult to do..
In bigger models the wifi function normal until last day of motherboard life.. Myself i prefer hp Compaq computers than hp computers even if the design is not so attractive but it has better cooling system but the specs of hp are always higher... So if only they work on this it will be number one...

Notebook - TX1000 Windows Vista x32, 2G RAM, SP2. Unit about 2 years old. Came into shop for wireless card repair. Wireless light stays amber. No wifi card listed in device manager. Wireless card removed, tested & worked in another laptop. With card removed from tx1000, wifi indicator light still lit amber indicating motherboard circuit malfunction.

Quickest & cheapest solution: install USB wireless adapter.

After and half years, one motherboard and screen change and an extended warranty this laptop has died for good. The video now freezes on it after only about ten minutes.

I am not spending any more time or money on it. I really liked the size and it worked well when it worked.

Time to move on. It seems the best deals out there are for HPs, go figure. Not sure if HPs with an Intel chipset have fared better with the whole heat wireless thing or if this was mostly on the AMD machines.No matter how good a deal an HP is one feels as though they have to take a three year warranty on it just to make sure you had something that would last three years. Every other laptop I've had I've been able to sell when I got a new one until now.....

It's the motherboard that is bad. You will want to get your free repair from hp. They know that he motherboard is bad.

I'VE FOUND THE SOLUTION!!!!!!

I have a tx2110us, basically the same model as others on here. And basically the same issues :-( After numerous emails and phonecalls with HP, and after they will only help if I pay them around $400, I decided to fix it myself. After trying everything from downloading every driver out there, updating and downgrading the bios, and every other trick you've read on this and several other forums, I finally stumbled across the solution! Whatever HP tells you, it's NOT a BIOS problem, it's not the drivers, or the WiFi Card (which i was duped into buying another), it's the MOTHERBOARD and the GPU. The problem is faulty soldering, which becomes degraded and disconnects over time. I followed the steps in the video, and low and behold, I have WiFi again!

This is because of Driver conflict between NVIDIA Video driver and Broadcom Wirless LAN Driver.



Follow the below steps:



Uninstall the NVIDIA and Broadcom Drviers from your Laptop.



Install the Wiress LAN Driver (WLAN) and configure the Network connection.

Install the NVIDIA drivers.

Same issue occurred with my tx1000 4 days ago. Been researching since. Am amazed and disappointed in how HP has responded (or not responded) to this issue. I've tried all the remedies from the various forums to no avail. Tonight, I ordered a replacement mini-PCI WLAN (for a mere $98 delivered) and will see if this fixes the problem. I'm not inclined to remove the MB and fry it. If HP won't replace these faulty MBs, then I'm off to another vendor. Sad, because I've bought nothing but HP for years, trusting in their product quality and customer care.
