Wireless Connection unstable
Greetings,
I have a compaq 2545 laptop with an integrated wireless card. I get connected to the net thru a SBC-DSL 2wire router. My connection keeps getting disconnected when there are networks in the vicinity.
I have a temporary solution for now, but does any of you know how to resolve this?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you

Re: Wireless Connection unstable
Unfortunately, no easy answer. The other networks are emitting in same range as you are, thus perturbating your signal.
You may try to encrypt to separate your signal from the other, but there is no guaranty that it would solve 100 %.
Bad news...

Re: Wireless Connection unstable
There could be many reasons why you have connection problems but here are two things you can do that may help. 1) most wireless devices can operate on a number of different channels. If there are other wireless networks operating on the same band they will interfere with each other and cause problems. You can try changin the channel assignment in your wireless access point. 2) Depending on the manufacturing date of your wirelss access point there may be firmware upgrades that could help. Since 802.1b is older this was not much of a problem but some of the 802.11a and possibly now the 802.11g products could have updates that will help.
