Wireless issues on a DV6000

Hi, lately I've been having a fairly annoying problem with my DV6000. I'm running Vista, and whenever I right click on my little wireless icon in the tray, or attempt to access any network settings, it opens the window and then freezes and nothing will happen. Most of the time when I click or right click on the icon to connect to a wireless network, the mini window will pop up but not allow me to click anything. This is very frustrating, because I'm losing 30~50 minutes every time I try and get wireless anywhere, but it will eventually work. I have the wireless drivers that originally came with the laptop (it says last updated in 2006) and it doesn't find any new ones. This also does not change depending on whether I reboot it or have had it sleeping, it just doesn't work all the same. Does anyone have an idea of how to remedy this problem?
