WPA2 missing - help appreciated
Hi,
I have company notebook HP Compaq nc6320 which has Broadcom Wifi card.
But there are missing WPA2 possibility.
What I am do wrong?
The driver and utility is the latest one. Also I have tried the old versions but does not help.
I have Windows XP SP3 so the patch for WPA2 should be there.
I would like to set WPA2 but it still give me only WPA in the list, there are:
- Open
- Shared
- 802.1X
- WPA-Enterprise
- WPA-Personal (PSK)
- CCKM
From information I have this Broadcom:
-Broadcom Wireless Utility: 5.10.105.0 (12.5.2009)
-Driver: 5.10.105.0 (12.5.2009)
-Card: V103C D1364 Rev 4.2
-Chipset: BCM4311 / BCM2050
-OS: Windows XP SP3
Thank you very much for help.
Best Regards

Re: WPA2 missing - help appreciated
Hello Vladmir,
If I am not mistaken, WPA-Enterprise should also understand WPA2. Is this not the case for you? What type of Access Point are you using? I will take a look.
Regards,
Greg

Re: WPA2 missing - help appreciated
Thank you for answer.
Are you sure that WPA-Enterprise should understand WPA2-Enterprise?
Because in a lot of manuals I can see 4 possibilities.
WPA-Enterprise
WPA-PSK
WPA2-Enterprise
WPA2-PSK
But my problem is that I want to connect to the www.eduroam.cz site in Plzen and that site require WPA2 with AES.
The guide that I used is:
http://support.zcu.cz/index.php/P%C5%99ipojen%C3%AD_mobiln%C3%ADch_za%C5%99%C3%ADzen%C3%AD/Jak_se_p%C5%99ipojit/Windows_XP
It is in Czech language but the values are WPA2 an AES.
Or for Intel:
http://support.zcu.cz/index.php/P%C5%99ipojen%C3%AD_mobiln%C3%ADch_za%C5%99%C3%ADzen%C3%AD/Jak_se_p%C5%99ipojit/Intel_PROSet
But the guide for Broadcom is not there :-)
So I want the same set in Broadcom Wireless Utility but they are missing.
But this settings is not there. The problem is also that their guides are for windows internal wifi utility or for Intel wifi utility but not for Broadcom.
The problem is also that when I set up WPA-Enterprise it tries to connect but it does not give me the IP Address. It stay on error message "Loading of network address" and then fails.
I do not know if there is problem on my notebook or on the connected site.
Do you have any idea why Broadcom does not show it? Does my card, notebook, chipset or anything else support it? Or how can I found out if WPA2 is supported on my notebook?
Thang you for answer.

Re: WPA2 missing - help appreciated
Hi I just want to say that you were right.
I have updated the wireless driver and the wireless utility t othe newest one and the connection works with network that is set to WPA2 Enterprise or WPA2 personal and the settings on the notebook is set to WPA-Enterprise or WPA-Personal.
So it means that this settings and broadcom card and broadcom utility have only one value for WPA and for WPA2.
I think this is a bug or it is not so good because if you have older driver you will not know if it is workign for WPA2 or not.
Also when I swich to windows wireless settings then it shows WPA and WPA2 so the broadcom card and driver support WPA2.
Anyway it works fine.
Best Regards
