ze4600 and Broadcom mini pci card

I've just installed a mini pci card into my laptop. All of the properties in the device manager indicate it is working, and it does see my network, although with only one bar. It tries to connect and will not. It appears that the anntennae might be the problem, however upon further investigation, the anntennae appear to be wired to the pci card interface? I've read several forums that I am to connect anntennae, but I do not see how this is possible. Please help!

Also, have done the ipconfig and it says the wireless network connection - media disconnected. I've also done /release and /renew and /all. It does show the description, the mac address as well. The attached is a photo of the card

Hello Mary
Sounds like you have not entered your
laptop into your domain, can you get onto the internet? Also check your firewall settings if you are using service pak 2 for
Xp and service pak 4 for windows 2000.
Also you might have to set up your wireless router for mix media which means
different types of cards B,G, and N type.

I hope this helps out.

Re: ze4600 and Broadcom mini pci card

I did add the mac address to my router security settings. Firewall settings have the IP added to the trusted zone. The laptop does connect to the internet via LAN and using a USB wireless just fine. All updates have also been completed. I'm not sure where else to check...

Re: ze4600 and Broadcom mini pci card

The antennas are NOT connected via the PCI interface by via two coax cables that attach onto the two gold posts on the top of the card. The antennas are placed on the top of the display and the coax cables are routed through the hinge down to where the card is installed. It seems like you brought a HP notebook that did not have the antennas and cables installed in the factory. This is true of all consumer class notebooks that ship without WLAN. Thus the WLAN card is obtaining single through the posts/shielding and not from any attached antennas... thus the very low performance.
