HPE GreenLake for Compute Ops Management: Automatic iLO firmware updates have started

The Compute Ops Management minimum iLO firmware requirement is now iLO 5 2.70 or later.

When an automatic iLO firmware update is installed, this activity and the new iLO version are displayed in the activity log. You can also view the installed iLO firmware version in the Firmware section of the server details page.

This feature is enabled by default for all new and previously added servers and server groups.

Does the minimum firmware have to be 2.70 to install into Compute Ops now with this feature.

Pre-requistie? Or is there anything else necessary to bring online and add in the GreenLake?

Hello Allen,

Starting June 15, compute devices will require iLO v2.70 for all firmware management functionality to work. HPE GreenLake for Compute Ops Management will automatically update iLO firmware to version 2.70 (unless opt out); this does not involve a server reboot. 

Computes running iLO 2.63 can still be Onboarded into HPE GreenLake and assigned to a Compute Ops Management deployment region. Further, general actions will still be capable including Power On and Off of Computes while running iLO 2.63. However, new features that include additional firmware update capabilities and critical notifications via email will require iLO 2.70 or higher.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends accepting the default setting (Enabled) for all servers and server groups and allowing Compute Ops Management to keep the iLO updated.

Firmware update capabilities and critical notifications via email will require iLO 2.70 or higher.
If you have onboarded a Compute Device into HPE GreenLake running less than v2.70 of iLO Firmware, your capabilites will be limited until it is updated to v2.70 or higher.
