Privacy Mode to hide IPs and hostnames?

Privacy Mode to hide IPs and hostnames?

We currently use OV Global Dashboard to monitor our Synergy environment.
As we are in the military / govermental segment, we are not allowed to publish IPs or hostnames outside our premises.
Therefor we can`t use Compute Ops Management.

NetApp for example has a so called privacy mode which anonymizes IPs and hostnames.
Does HPE have a feature like this? If not, any plans to implement it?

Re: Privacy Mode to hide IPs and hostnames?

Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your question in regards to HPE Compute Ops Management.

At this time, that feature enablement is not available. We do have a similar feature request for COM to have the ability to turn off display of IP Address although I dont have a timeline of that feature into the product. I assume that feature could easily be modified to add the hostname to that mode as well so it is not displayed in the UI.

I will send you a message with my information so I can maybe gather some addtional details from you on the request that our Product Mangagement might find helpful to them in making decisions around this enhancement to the product in the area of security.

Best Regards,

Mark

Re: Privacy Mode to hide IPs and hostnames?

I might ask-- how do you prefer to identify your server in Compute Ops Management?  Most of the screens use hostname or servername and serial number and those would either need some obfuscated or generated identifier or remain blank.  Most of the rows/lists with servers use that name as an active link.

If you manally set a 'server name' in the iLO that would be used; but even iLO warns you that some agents will replace that name too.  Is serial number sufficient?  We would still need to design a way to handle this (I configured one without a name set):

@DanCernese - @Mark-S

I fully agree, monitoring hundreds/thousands of servers with just seeing the serial nr. makes it extremly difficult.
But if we only have to follow up on those with issues/alerts it would be sort of "ok" for us.

Background is that you discontinued OV Global Dashboard. For us this on-prem tool is/was essential.
Now we need some kind of alternative to manage our systems, preferably on-prem.
