3Com 5500G-EI SWITCH and module upgrades

Hi,

 

I have a 5500G-EI (3CR17255-91), power supply 3C17267 with a module 3C17260. 

 

Simple question I hope, can I connect another identical switch and modules together with the correct stacking switch and increase the SFP connect from 8 to 16 with no loss of functionality?

No. Creating the IRF will renumber all the switchports on the existing switch. Pretty sure it also requires a reboot. Then you have to reconfigure the switch for any interface configs/VLAN assignments.

 

Once you have the IRF already configured, adding another switch is seamless.
