4500G and 3824

Hi,

     I have a small cluster with the switch 3824. We have bought more machines to be installed ins this cluster, but there are not port available anymore. We bought the switch 4500G to solve this problem, but I cannot add this switch to the 3824. How can I do this? Is it possible stacking these switches? Can i use a crossover cable?

No, you can not add the 4500G to the existing cluster. You can connect the 4500G to the cluster using two cables and enabling a link aggregation group, increasing the throughput between the switches. You don't need to use a crossover cable because the 4500G ports are auto MDI/MDIX.

Hi Alexander. You don't need to use two cables if you don't want, but is a good practice to provide contingency and increase the connection throughput. You can use a single cable with no problem.
