change to trunk port on a 5130 require shutdown?
Hi. I will have to reconfigure a 5130 so that a simple uplink at port 1/0/52 which currently carries only vlan 1 now carries an additional vlan(s). and becomes a trunk port. The following commands are needed.
port link-type trunk
port trunk permit vlan 1 123 341
Simple question please, when I change the port to a trunk port, can I do this on the fly or will I need to shutdown the port using the shutdown command first and then after changing to a trunk issue undo shutdown?
interface ten 1/0/52
shutdown
port link-type trunk
port trunk permit vlan 1 123 341
Thanks. I'm fairly new to these switches.

Re: change to trunk port on a 5130 require shutdown?
Hi Johnny
You may just proceed with the command withut shutting down the port, it will take a short moment for the switch to turn the port to trunk then you may continue to configure it.
Cheers.
