Failed to obtain the current configuration.
Hello,
we have actually 2 IRF groups each containing of three 5900AF-48G-4XG-2QSFP Switches.
Both IRFs are in usage for about more than 3 years and this is the first time I occur this error:
<IRF99>display current-configuration
<IRF99>display current-configuration diff
Failed to obtain the current configuration.
<IRF99>display saved-configuration
#
version 7.1.045, Release 2422P01
#
sysname IRF99
#
.......
I am also not able to see the current configuration via web (https).
I just noticed that the flash contains no "iccrunning.cfg" file anymore.
How could this happen and is there a way without reboot to restore or recreate th running config?
Thanks in advance
Erik

Re: Failed to obtain the current configuration.
Hi Erik,
Can you try to generate 'display diagnostic-information' and check if there is any config inside the output?
Also what is the output of 'display irf'?
Thanks!

Re: Failed to obtain the current configuration.
@akg7 qakg7 display diagnostic-information still shows me the complete config, yes
@jmpk not connected via console so far, but with "terminal monitor"via ssh I just can see a PVID mismatch on a port of the IRF99 (which I doubt is that big of a deal)

Re: Failed to obtain the current configuration.
Hi Erik,
Both IRF status looks good.
Hopefully you have taken the backup of the config.
Have you saved the config: 'save' or 'save safely force'? Try and check the status?
Let us know if any error reflects.
Also can you try to connect each switch with console and check the current config or config file in flash?
Thanks!

Re: Failed to obtain the current configuration.
The iccrunning.cfg is missing on all devices (as I mentioned in my first post).
I did not try to save so far because I am not sure if the "empty" current-configuration overwrites the saved-configuration.
The saved-configuration looks fine right now, it is just the current-configuration which is missing.
So is it safe for me to save force?

Re: Failed to obtain the current configuration.
Hi Erik,
I hope you have checked all slots. This output is showing only slot1.
Can you run:
<HPE>display startup
<HPE>more startup.cfg <Verify if this is matching with running current config. You can verify from display diag or dis current-configuration configuration>
<H3C>reset recycle-bin <Press 'N' and see which file is available>
Normally current config exists in startup.cfg.
Do you know what the data was in 'iccrunning.cfg'?
Device is running on 4 years old software and not found any such bug in new software relase.
Thanks!
