How many switches can be linked via IRF?
Hi there
We've bought 5 JE069As. Is it possible to connect all 5 switches via IRF? The indications seem to be that it is limited to 4, which may pose us some problems.
Many thanks
Simon

Re: How many switches can be linked via IRF?
Depends on the switch type, some types can connect up to 9 others just 2. The 5120 is classed as an edge device rather than core or aggregation so generally these only stack around 4 units. This makes sense really as edge switches tend to only have a couple of links back into the core, usually a couple of 1Gb connections in a link-aggregation. If you are trying to use this as a core switch, then you may find that this is the wrong product.

Re: How many switches can be linked via IRF?
5120 = 4
5500 and 58xx = 9
7500, 9500 and 12500 = 2
10500 will be the first core chassie with support for 4 switches in an IRF.
