HP 5800 Cisco TwinAx Support

Hi,

We are currently looking at a new HP 5800 Comware setup that we will need to connect to our HP servers and Our NetApp Storage.

Does anyone know if I can use HP C-Series (Cisco) Twinax cables to connect both to the HP 5800 and to the HP Servers and if not does any one know a Twinax that will wok between the HP5800 and the NetApp & HP Servers?

Thanks

D

Re: HP 5800 Cisco TwinAx Support

Hi,

First use the public HP configurator:

http://h17007.www1.hp.com/tw/en/products/configurator/index.aspx

Add Datacenter - 5800

Next select the Ports tab, and take SFP+ Direct Attach Cable

Next move to the Accessories tab, you will see the available and supported DAC (TwinAx) cables from HP.

The server/netapp  DAC cable support will depend on the actual 10G NIC, but most server NICs support various vendor DAC Cables.

You can use any other vendor DACcable, but the switch will give a message that you are using an unsupported transceiver (but it works :) )

Best regards,Peter.
