IRF on my three switches is a loop. I have two 10 Gbps connections from each of the switches to the other switches for 40 Gbps loop. STP does not affect IRF. IRF allows the three switches to act as one huge switch. STP is used to control multiple paths and prevent loops. I was able to use Policy Based Routing to avoid loops and not have to use STP.

SolutionThe IRF ports are excluded from STP and you cannot enable it, as they are removed from 'normal' service when they become IRF ports. The whole IRF stack will work as one unit, STP-wise.
