Hi there,

I was looking to update Firmware on HP5500 (JG240A) switch & the latest software available is Oct 2015. Is there not going to be any new releases for this Switch

Well, the latest released Firmware (despite the fact that it is listed under "Previous Releases") should be instead the Comware 5.20 R2222 P05, released at end of April 2017 (Release Notes here)...clearly if your Switch isn't TAA Compliant.

Regarding TAA Compliance read, as example, here (more if you do a generic search through Internet).

Probably if your environment requires a fully TAA Compliant Switch (Firmware included) I guess you have to use the TAA tagged one, if your environment doesn't require a fully TAA Compliant Switch (as example, Firmware excluded from being TAA tagged) then you can install whatever Firmware your Switch supports.
