Preferred method for upgrading IRF's?
Greetings,
Pardon my ignorance as I'm one of those do everything IT guys and don't focus on networking as much as I need to. I'm comfortable with the CLI and do all the builds and IRF'ng.
We have been buying Comware switches for all of our new buys. We have 7500's in two and three member IRF's. We have 5500's in two member IRF's. These models are running v5.x comware. We also have 5920's in two member IRF's running comware v7.
I've seen this excellent blog and am tempted to use this procedure: http://abouthpnetworking.com/2014/03/24/comware5-issu-unkown-manual-procedure/ . I am concerned with my remote site switches that I have no console access to.
I like the idea of usin iMC to do my upgrades but haven't seen many references to doing IRF's that way.
Anybody have pointers on doing upgrades with minimal downtime?
Thanks!
Ron

Re: Preferred method for upgrading IRF's?
Hello.
In my opinion I believe that the best way would be to use the ISSU.

In older versions of IMC is not recommended to do the update of the IRF. I not have done tests in the latest versions...

Re: Preferred method for upgrading IRF's?
I'm really surprised that iMC is not more IRF aware. If you run through the software deployment process it never recognizes or has any dialog relating to IRF'd switches.
