Access Controller 3024 using WEP with Symbol bar code scanners
Hi there.
In my company we are performing a proof of concept in an environment that uses bar code scanners, a Symbol model PDT6848-N2S642US. This scanner just supports WEP 128 encryption, but with a detail that is impacting on our implementation: the WEP key in the settings needs to use a length of 26 characters instead 32 as the usual WEP 128 key. This means that the scanner could not associate itself to the SSID enabled in the Access Controller.
I already tried to setup the key as a WEP104 (26 characters), WEP 40 (that uses the same key length in both devices) but even in these cases the scanner could not associate to the SSID.
I have searched in the web for some similar case or some info concerning a proprietary protocol, but unlucky.
Do anyone knows why this is happening? Is there some special feature that needs to be enabled in the AC or in the scanner? In both devices the firmware version are already updated to the latest available version.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Fred Mancen.
