4 FC Paths to an XP12K - Optimal Config: present LUNS on 4 Paths or Just 2?
We have a large DB Server environment that has 4x2GBPS FC-HBAs to an XP12K. Naturally .. it is connected to 4 front end CHiP ports.
I am facing a big decision whether to present each LUN accross 4 CHiPs/FC-HBAs or just 2 with simply divvying up the number of LUNs between the 2 pairs.
I am using VxVM DMP (Active/Active) btw.
On our Hitachi Arrays on Solaris Environments, I have a 16 Channel connection on one large E10K server. I divvied up my luns accross 8 pairs of FC-HBAs instead of presenting each LUN 16 times accross the FC Channels and got very good performance numbers...
Those that use XP with HP-UX11i and have multiple HBA's (more than 2).. how do you present your LUNs? Any sugestions?
