Backup staging within the same array?

Hi all,

Would it make sense to do a backup staging behind the same controller, e.g. MSA1500?

Customer is insisting on that & to be honest I don't see any practical benefit.

As this will be SAN solution with SAN-attached tape, we are looking at LAN-free backup anyway.

Any thoughts / comments?
