Can this controller do multiple RAID sets??
I can't find any good information on this...
HP 2GB P-series Smart Array Flash Backed Write Cache(631681-B21)
I need to know if it can do the following within one server:
1 single disk 'array' -- do I use JBOD or RAID 0 or not set it as an array at all??
11 disks in RAID 5 with one (1) global spare
Thank you, Tom

Re: Can this controller do multiple RAID sets??
hi ,
The number you provided is from the cache module and not from the controller itself. Please provide info about the controller type.
Thanks

Re: Can this controller do multiple RAID sets??
Controller is P420i embedded.
It does RAID 0 which can take a single disk, the other disks will be done RAID 5 with a global spare.
Thank you, Tom

Re: Can this controller do multiple RAID sets??
hi,
The controller + cache can multiple raids. Some useful info can be found in the quickspecs of the controller.
http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c04111534
Please keep in mind that the number of discs depends on the server modell. If you want to attach more than 8 drives to the controller, you should have a backplane with integrated sas expander.
Thanks
