I have a EVA4000 with disk of 146GB in one diskgroup. The diskgroup was created with disk drive failure protection = SINGLE. Recently I purchased 4 disk drives of 300GB, for include in the same diskgroup (I can not create a new diskgroup, because the minimum number of disks for diskgroup is 8).
My questions are:
By including the new disks, the diskgroup will set aside an amount equal to or greater than 300GB?.
If I decide to change the protection level to NONE, what precautions should I take before making the change?

Solution
If you add a single 300GB disk drive to that disk group, it will increase the space reservation for the so-called "protection level" from 292GB to 600GB (Hardware GigaBytes, to be precise - CV-EVA will show Software GigaBytes, so multiply by 93%).
You should NOT lower the "protection level", because then YOU have to make care that enough space is kept free in the disk group to successfully recover from a disk drive failure.
