Re: Drivers for HP A6255A Scsi Enclosure Device
I believe that you do not need a driver. How is the ds connected? and what type of server is it connected to?
Usually, a disk shelf is just an extension of a SCSI bus. It is on the end of a SIngle Ended SCSI cable and allows you to attack multiple SCSI hdd's to your system. At the very least, you need a SCSI controller to use the drives. In most situations, one would have a RAID Controller like a Smart Array Controller to utilize a Hardware RAID solution with the disks. Without the RAID Controller, the Windows System should just see 14 individual disks (or whatever amount of disks you have connected.)

Re: Drivers for HP A6255A Scsi Enclosure Device
You should be able to use the disks even without a special driver.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Drivers for HP A6255A Scsi Enclosure Device
I think i should it more clearer. The DS2405 is an FC enclouse. And i've got commandView SDM installed on a server. For this program to find the disks installed on the DS2405 i need a driver (A6255A) which on windows says a Scsi Enclosure Device but on partsufer its a Link Controller Card (LCC) for disk enclosure. I guess the A6255A driver will let commandView SDM detect the enclouse and drives install on it

Re: Drivers for HP A6255A Scsi Enclosure Device
How do you have this box connected to a Windows server?
Seeing as the ds2405 is generally geared for an HP-UX environment, I am not sure how much support you will get connected to a Windows server.
I am not a ds expert and have little experience with them so I could be way off.

Now that I see your dilemma more clearly, I can probably stop littering the thread since I am NOT the expect on the subject ;o)

Re: Drivers for HP A6255A Scsi Enclosure Device
Try if your commandview (should be at least version 1.09.0x) can see the box. Open a cmd window and type either "cvui" or armdiscover. What do you get?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Drivers for HP A6255A Scsi Enclosure Device
When i open cmd on window and type cuvi or armdiscover it says that its not an internal or external command. I guess i need another software where i can apply these command but dont know what software.
I've got the window server to detect the enclosure and all disk attached to it but now i cant format/create array on it.. Do you guys know what other software that i need to apply the cuvi or armdiscover command ?

Re: Drivers for HP A6255A Scsi Enclosure Device
as mentioned before , all you need is a dummy .inf file to let Windows know what kind of device this is. Their is no driver needed for Windows to be able to work with the DS2405. If all is setup correctly you should see a number of disks in your disk management , one per fibre channel disk that is present in the DS2405A.
Attached is a test .INF file you can load to get rid of the hardware wizard "new device found" pop up window at every reboot. This just loads a dummy driver but their is no catalog file, so you should accept the unsigned driver message when you try to load this .inf file.
If you have certain Windows/Domain policies configured, you might not be able to even load a unsigned driver, check with the sysadmin to workaround this if that is the case.
