Drives in array do not blink orange when selected from ACU
Hi All,
We have HP server with Array controller card connected to a SAN enclosure with scsi disk through SCSI cables.
From server Array controller utility we can see the array controller card and all the disks
but if we select the card all the disks should blink orange - this does not happen
if we select any drive as well no orange light blinks
This is causing trouble as visually we can not identify if there is any disk failed.
this array is in RAID 5 and recently it failed when checked we found one disk was not working since long time and 2nd disk failed that day.
Please help.
Thanks,
Imran.

Re: Drives in array do not blink orange when selected from ACU
Hi!
Strange!
Do they not blink at all even if you select one disk?
Have you tried other web browsers or possibly to upgrade the ACU?
What kind of server, controller card, OS and array do you have?

Re: Drives in array do not blink orange when selected from ACU
Have you tried to select an Array or a logical drive only?
You should try that. and see if that make any difference.
If not, you might have a hardware problem.
The LED's are located on the Drive Cage backplane, and it is controlled by the Smart Array controller.
Possible harsware failure is:
Cable, backplane or controller.
On some models there's is a removable terminator also.
This is another good reason for using HP SIM, and possibly also IRS
