E200 to P400 Controller

Dear all, I have a DL 380 with E200 array card installed. I need to replace it with the P400 card as aparently there are problems with Exchange server and that card. I am a bit confused as how to proceed (I have never done this before).
1. Do I order the P400 card alone or do I need to order the upgrade kit?
2. Would someone be so kind to tell me the steps to follow to change the part?

Thanks very much in advance!

Re: E200 to P400 Controller

Hello,

you need to order the prod-no. 405132-B21 (HP Smart Array P400/256MB Controller). Shutdown the server, remove the old E200 and plugin the new P400 controller. Connect the cables to the SAS ports and boot the server. Everything should boot without any additional tasks.

But one question: What problem do you have with the E200 controller?

Best regards,
Patrick

Re: E200 to P400 Controller

Thanks very much Patrick! Very appreciated! To be honest with you I haven't had problems yet, but we were instructed to change the card by the IT Headquarters of our organization because some of our offices had problems with their Exchange servers crashing due to disk buffer problems.
What if I order the P400/512 (411064-B21)? Would that be ok?

Thanks again!

Hello,

yes, it's the same controller, but with a bigger BBWC module.
