Re: eva 5000 vcs upgrade
3.028 is not the latest VCS,
latest one is 3.110.
You need to shutdown all the servers that use storage from EVA.
If you have the latest VCS files which have .sss extension, first copy the file on Command View Server, then start CV EVA and then select the EVA from the left hand side.
Then you will see the code load button on the upper bar of the left window.
finally yes disk fw upgrade is also necessary.

Re: eva 5000 vcs upgrade
In order to upgrade to VCS3.110 you first need to upgrade to VCS3.028.
Before upgrading carefully read the release notes of XCS3.028 and 3.110
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00444255/c00444255.pdf
and
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01700564/c01700564.pdf
It might be possible to do the upgrades online!
VCS3.028 can be downloaded from here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software5/COL11349/co-33573-1/
VCS3.110 can be downloaded from here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3352089&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=321347&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=54
Cheers
Pete
