Hot Spares on HSZ70 arrays

I'm wondering what my options are for a hot spare spindle(s) if I have have multiple drive types in the enclosure (i.e. 9 / 18 / etc.). Would simply having one of the largest spindle type do or would 2 9GBs be good for an 18GB?

Thanks,

Mike

I believe you would have to go with the largest drive in your enclosure.
In your case, you would need a 18GB spareset drive to cover for 9/18GB disk failure.

Abdul is correct. A spare disk can only cover failed disks of the same or a smaller size. But you can have multiple spare disks with different sizes if you like.
