How to cable D2600 disk enclosures

We have a new DL360 G6 with two D2600 LFF disk shelves (each shelf is full with 600GB sas drives).

The server has a p411 sas raid controller. It has 2 ports.

I currently have it configured with each port on the raid controller connected to its own disk shelf. Is this correct, or should they be daisy-chained to a single port?

Thanks.

Re: How to cable D2600 disk enclosures

The DS2600 user guide has a chapter (chapter 7?) about cabling.

Hope this helps!

Re: How to cable D2600 disk enclosures

Looking at the guide now. It doesn't show a "single-domain" setup like mine: Each shelf connected to a different port on the server. They have them daisy-chained in this environment.

Yet I have it set up with each port feeding a separate bay and it is working...does this mean I have a dual-i/o raid controller? Or will this potentially cause me problems later?

There is no problem with your configuration. You can attach up to 4 daisy chained DS2600 per P411 host port. There is no particular issue if you daisy chain on one port or if you attach one D2600 to each port.
You are anyway in a single domain environment. Dual-domain would be Two P411 host ports attached to the same D2600 for redundancy purpose.
