HP 8 port SAS HBA

Hello all,

I purchased a (HP 8 int port 64/133 PCI-X SAS HBA) card to use on an HP DL 140 G2 server. The server has 2 sata drives and I was planning to do a RAID ARRAY (mirror). I installed the card and it was detected by the server without any problems. When I hit F8 to view the configuration utility and go to the drive topology section, the card does not detect any devices. I have updated the firmware and bios on the card, however, I got the same result. Any help in resolving this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Martin Camacho

Did you attach the internal drive cables to the SAS controller?

Yes, I purchased a cable that supports four drives and tried it on both ports of the controller with the same result.

which is the HDD's spare part number?


also have you tried "RAID Properties screens" instead of SAS topology?

Unfortunately, the cables are generic from "frys"; they are not HP branded. Yes, I have tried to configure through the ARRAY properties, however, since it doesn't see any drives, there is nothing to configure.

Do you think is essential to get the HP cable kit?

Whats the Server FW version?

Please make sure it is at the latest.
