Logical drive stripe size
Which is the best performance stripe size with a Smart controler in RAID 5 (3 x 18 GB disks) configuration in a NetWare 5.x environment (file server) . Default size is 16 KB but NetWare uses 64 KB blocks.

Re: Logical drive stripe size
If performance is an issue, perhaps you should take a look at adding drives to the raid 5 array. More drives will make faster access on array, as each head is capable of moving and reading just so much data. The rest is just delay in the electronics as it is put together and sent to ram or application or wherever. This delay is negligible in comparison with the speed of the drive access and seek speeds.
As for your question, just tell the smart start what NOS you will be using and it is smart enough to make the proper settings for when it prepares the drive.
