NetApp FAS3050 port configuration
I'm trying to understand the Fibre Channel port counts on a NetApp FAS3050.
The product spec sheet says it suports "8 onboard 2GB Fibre Channel Ports (configuratble as Storage-attached initiator or Host-attached target)." I take this to mean these are either front-end ports or back-end ports.
So, my question is, what is the maximum number of back end ports you could practically go with? Assuming that in this case 90% of the traffic is Fibre Channel and not NAS, I'm thinking it would be 4, leaving you with 4 front-end ports. If you had 6 back-end ports, the front-end would only be left with 2, and that wouldn't come close to being able to drive the 6 back-end ports. Am I on the right track?

You have a system configuration guide available in NOW that will provide all information you need to configure this box in terms of number diskshelf, number of NIC, preferred order of slot assignment and configuration.
I see that the maximum number of FCP target-mode interface (X1028B-R63) for this box as 2 for ONTAP version 7.2
