P400 Controller on DL380
It seems there are two types of P400 card available - one that has the SCSI conections coming out of the top of the card and one where they are on the back of the card and come out at right angles. The DL380 needs the version where they come out at right angles as if you use the other one, you can't shut the lid. However, there only seems to be one part number (405132-B21). Does anybody know the part or product number of the version I need?

Re: P400 Controller on DL380
hi
which one your server has?
for Dl380 G5 p400 must use the one that has the connectors in the back in order to better accommodate the chassis design.
Other server has normal connectors close to Cache module
check this
Dl380 g5 controllers connectors in the back

dl580 g4 connectors close to cache module

so the number is the same it depends on which server are you using and the chassis design

Re: P400 Controller on DL380
I'll post an answer because this bit me
as well. It appears that HP is now shipping
DL380s with the wrong version and nobody
(other than the smart tech support guy
in Costa Rica) seems to know what's going on.
(For entertainment, look at the latest 380
documentation and find the parts where it says
the P400 only goes in slot 1, and the other
places where it says it only goes in slots
3,4,5! ;^)).
For the DL380G5 it looks like you want the
405831-001. The DL580G5 appears to be the
441823-001. The memory, battery, cables
seem to be the same between the two versions.
If you're tired of trying to
get HP to sort things out you can just buy the
part through the HP parts store for $388
(or _much_ cheaper elsewhere).
Hope that saves someone some frustration.
I'll follow up once I get the part and
see if it's actually the right one.
