parity error and rebuilding

I have a Compaq Proliant server with a Smart Array controller 3200. On boot up my server gives Parity Check 2-system DIMM. I removed all of my memory modules with the same result. When I remove the SmartArray Controller I do not get this error. Do I have defective memory on the card and if I replace the card can I recover the data.
