Can the battery be replaced or does it require that the whole controller be replaced? Also, if the battery has reached end of life will it disable the cache or otherwise affect read/write performance? We are experiencing acceptable read performance but severely degraded write performance. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Solution
From memory (I can't get at my controller at the moment) I seem to remember the part number on the removable cache/battery board on the RA4100 controller was the same as the cache/battery board on the Smart Array 3200 controllers (Which usually go cheap on eBay - although with an old battery)
If you can get at your RA4000 you may want to check that your battery/cache daughterboard is the same (I think the RA4000/4100 controllers are similar)
Matt.
