RAID 0+1 on different cabinets
we've got some 4200 controllers and 4312 cabinet, and we are thinking to use them setting up a 0+1 raid on two cabinets, in order to achieve the maximum of reliability and survivance:
cabinet 1: 7 disks connected to 4200 port 0
cabinet 2: 7 disks connected to 4200 port 1
On the 4200 we want to setup a 0+1 raid on these 14 disks.
Questions is: if we turn off cabinet 1, will the raid set continue to work? Are two mirroring set well separated or are them casually mixed?

Thats a good question. I have a similar setup with a Dl580 and 2 4354's. i am using 2 buses of a 6402 to connect to 1 half of each 4354 shelf and have 4 different arrays spanned across the 2 shelves.
I would think that the smart array is "smart" enough to see that there are disks on different buses and should take that into consideration when mirroring data. I do not have the facility to test this out right now, but would like to in the future. If I do, I will let you know the outcome.
