Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

I have to servers both were installed with win2k3, both with 2 HBAs and fully redundant connection to my HSG80 contraoller. When I create a storageset and give an access to one of my server it will see four physical drives which i think is normal because Secure Path is not yet installed. After installing secure path and rebooting the server all disk drives cannot be seen on the disk management console and when i look at the device manager i found out that all disk has yellow exclamation point and stating that windows cannot load the driver. Please help!

What ACS version do you have?
What HBA driver version?
What Secure Path version and service pack etc?

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

Are you using V4.0C SP2-1 (or at least 4.0C) ? Earlier versions are not supported on W2k3.

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

I installed secure path 4.0C workgroup edition just now and the disk drivers were loaded but there is on more problem, the created logical drive is still detected as 4 physical drives, even the secure path is installed properly, by the way i am using HSG80 8.7

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

You need the 'enterprise' version of Secure Path.

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

What is the difference between the Workgroup Edition versus Enterprise Edition of Secure Path?

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

Workgroup Edition is for the MSA1000 only.

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

The difference is that the workgroup edition will do multipath filtering for a smaller range of supported storage arrays than the 'enterprise' version.
Well, and the price, of course ;-)

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

After installing Secure Path 4.0c, all disk appeared to be Compaq Secured Path Disk. One more problem that i am going to consult is the 4 virtual disk that i created are also visible to other host, i checked the zoning on the switch and the zoning config is correct, only the hosts that i wanted to access the virtual disk are defined. What could possibly cause the problem?

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

Have you set access rights in the HSG80 ?
When you create a new unit the default setting is that all host have access to it,
so you have to the following:

SET Dxx DIS=ALL ENA=(connectionname1, connectionname2, connectionname3, connectionname4)
Replace xx with the unitnumber, and connectionname with the name of your connections.

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

I already did a selective access on SWCC but it is still appearing on the unselected host.

Re: Secure Path 4.0 and HSG80 Problem

Have you restarted the other server since you set the access rights ? Don't think it disappears until you do that if it has been accessible.
