Any service manual for High availability disk array??

The Status led(Service) is on Amber and one of the hard disk has no light..What is the possible remedy for this..

how can i connect o the grid manager?i already read about the grid manager but the problem is how can i get there?what is the setup of the connectivity?

You need to connect a terminal emulator to the serial port (speed 9600).

can I configure it using the telnet?what cables do I need?

No, no telnet, but for example putty or hyperterminal.


If you are running hp-ux on the host you can even manage the array with SAM.

ah yah putty,sorry I'm used with telnet..so what cable?

A normal null modem cable.

In the past the serial connection was usually configured to the server, so you can likely use "cu" from the host.

serial to usb cable will do?so that I can connect to the putty and see it grid manager?

by the way, I connect it to the host D370 using scsi cable but the host could not recognized the storage..should I connect it to the single ended?

The array is high voltage differential scsi - obsolete since years.

You cannot connect it to a LVD controller.

You need a HVD SCSI card.


What do you want to do with this old box?


Today a single disk has much more capacity than this array can ever have.

for console of high availability disk array M20 what kind of serial cable will do?

can it be a DB25 to BD9?
if so could it be RS232 DB9 to DB25 Pinout or RS232 DB9 to DB25 NULL Modem Pinout??

As said several times now you need a null modem cable.
