Smart Array 5i Accelerator set to 0% Write & 100% Read
Hi,
I have installed a ML 350G2 with Smart Array 5i, and when i have installed smart array configurator, i have see that buffers is set to 0% Write & 100% Read.
since that i have noticed that my server is extremly slow to put data on ...
Some application are also extremly slow ...
My problem is that i can't set another ratio in the interface ... Where can i set this to 50/50 for example.
(in data transfert beetween the server and another PC, i have mesured :
From ML350 to PC : 80Mbps
From PC to ML350 : 15-20Mbps .... ouch ! )

Re: Smart Array 5i Accelerator set to 0% Write & 100% Read
Barrau,
Since the smart array 5i doesn't have a battery backupped cache you cannot use write caching.
This is because you would loose data if your server was switched off without flushing write cache to disk.
If you want to have writecaching you need a high-end array controller.
:-(
Marco.

Re: Smart Array 5i Accelerator set to 0% Write & 100% Read
I'm not familiar with the ML350, but I believe most 5i controllers have an option for a battery backed write cache enabler.
