BD450DAJZH and BD300DADFP Platter Question

Basically I just need to know how many platters that these particular disks have.

I am currently looking into acceptable Disk Queue Length levels and I have read that it is in relation to the number of platters in the disks in your array.

We have an EVA 6000 here with two 32 disk groups. One group contains BD300DADFP (300 GB 10k) and the other contains BD450DAJZH (450 GB 10k). I cannot find ANY information on the HP website and questions that I have sent support have gone unanswered for about 3 weeks.

Thanks.

What about on the disks physically?
Maybe there are other model numbers/info from the manufacturer there?

How many different sizes of platters are there?

I would guess that the platters for the 300GB is either 150 or 100 (2 or 3 platters) while the 450GB probably has 3x150GB platters.

Re: BD450DAJZH and BD300DADFP Platter Question

Unfortunately it will be very difficult to convince the business to let me pull out a disk to take a look at it. And I'm not entirely certain if there are any spares lying around.

Thanks for the guess though, that at least gives me a ballpark figure.

If anyone knows the exact number, that would be appreciated. Or is trying to find out without looking at the physical disk pointless?

Not sure if this is really true.

However, on the disk label is another model number printed, e.g. a ST..... model if the disk is seagate. Then you can look up the specifications.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: BD450DAJZH and BD300DADFP Platter Question

On the EVA there is a (default) 60 second time from when the disk is taken out until reconstruction starts.

If you take it out, snap a picture or two and put it back in let's say 40-50s (less than 10s is not good) you should be safe.

Re: BD450DAJZH and BD300DADFP Platter Question

As Torsten stated, if there is a Seagate STXXXXXXFC number you can the specs from their website.

Also check the firmware versions, there are Head-of-Queue/Quorum timeout issues resolved:
