cpqacuxe and netscape versions

I am using cpqacuxe version 7.0-1 under Linux from the rpm at

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/18822.html

which page states that Netscape 6.2 is supported.

When I access the utility from both Netscape version 6.2 and and version 6.2.3 I can log in and navigate the pages, but when I try to access the Array Configuration Utility I see just a blank page. When I view the source for the blank page I see the script below. The same thing also happens with Netscape 7.2. Am I using the wrong version of Netscape after all?

I have also tried to use the command line interface to cpqacuxe but I cannot find the right version of the documentation. I have found the following three manuals

239449-009.PDF
c00294139.pdf
c00683579.pdf

but none of them appears to relate to the version of cpqacuxe that I am using.

cpqacuxe --help gives
===============================================
Array Configuration Utility version 7.0.1.0
The Array Configuration Utility (ACU) allows you to configure and manage your storage through a web browser.
Server Mode Usage:
cpqacuxe [option]
Options: (use one only)
-h, --help Show this page.
-v Show version information.
-d, --disable-remote Disable remote connection (default).
-R, --enable-remote Enable remote connection.
-stop Stop the server.

Scripting Mode Usage:
cpqacuxe [option] [filename]
Options: (use one only)
-c Capture configuration to a script file. Default file is acucapt.ini.
-i Input configuration from a script file. Default file is acuinput.ini.
See ACU documentation for script file syntax.

Command Line Interface Usage:
cpqacuxe [option]
Options:
-cli Accesses the CLI interface.
-cli show Shows the storage systems current configuration.
The CLI interface accepts script commands delimited by a # symbol.
See ACU documentation for scripting syntax.

Note:
Make sure that you have gone through the following checklist:
1. Change the administrator password to something other than
the default.
2. Only run ACU on servers that are on a local intranet
or a secure network.
3. Secure the management port (port 2301 or 2381)
on your network.
===============================================
but I do not see a command line prompt when I run

cpqacuxe -cli

the response is

Usage: Expecting the 'SHOW' command or ACR commands delimited by '#'

but unfortunately I have no idea of the syntax for the commands. The 'show' command appears to work, that is it gives me a list of partitions which is much as expected, but

cpqacuxe -c

gives me an empty file so I cannot use it as the basis for a script.

All I want to do is repartition a 72GB SCSI drive from nine x 8GB partitions to 1 x 72GB.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Re: cpqacuxe and netscape versions

Hi,

your version is from 2003 - some old.
Why not try a more current version (search for smartstart) and use another browser (like firefox).
BTW, your version is telling you

"This browser is not supported for use with the Array Configuration Utility (ACU). Please check the ACU documentation for supported browsers."

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: cpqacuxe and netscape versions

Thanks very much for the reply, Torsten.

I saw that part of the html which said the browser wasn't supported. It's a shame that it's the only version of Netscape that the HP documentation says _is_ supported. KDE gave the same result. I don't have firefox handy, I can grab it and install it of course but I was hoping not to have to spend the rest of the week building browsers just to re-partition a drive. :)

I can't use a later version of cpqacuxe because the system doesn't support later versions. The RPMs won't install, missing dependencies. If I could install the support for later versions of cpqacuxe I would, but I dare not do it as this is a live production server and my secondary master nameserver amongst other things. There are other issues with the machine which I need to resolve too, starting with the partitioning of this drive.

Any idea how I can do that from the cpqacuxe command line?

I don't like booting the box too often (about once a year at most) but I did try that - when booted the box says press F10 to run something that looks like it might be able to repartition drives, but after pressing F10 it says the utility isn't available and just continues to boot Linux.

Are there any other tools that can do this job from within Linux?
