Disk firmware upgarde failure
Hello,
I need to upgrade from HP03 to HP05 firmware of not used ST318406LC disks in a DS2100 :
:/var/tmp) diskinfo -v /dev/rdsk/c4t0d0
SCSI describe of /dev/rdsk/c4t0d0:
vendor: HP 18.2G
product id: ST318406LC
type: direct access
size: 17783240 Kbytes
bytes per sector: 512
rev level: HP03
blocks per disk: 35566480
ISO version: 0
ECMA version: 0
ANSI version: 2
removable media: no
response format: 2
The station is an B2600 in HP-UX 11.11. I use STM in 43.25 version.
I have downloaded the PF_D36ESHP05.frm from the itrc.hp.com site and I have put the
PF_D36ESHP05.frm file in /var/tmp directory. The checksum is good :
:/var/tmp) cksum PF_D36ESHP05.frm
4051632651 3349504 PF_D36ESHP05.frm
When I try to upgrade the firmware, STM has this problem :
====================
Current Firmware revision: HP03
Firmware update instructions:
1. Select the file containing the device firmware.
2. Start the firmware update.
Firmware update file information:
Firmware File Selected: /var/tmp/PF_D36ESHP05.frm
Firmware Revision: <----- PROBLEM
Firmware Size: 3348416
Selecting the firmware update file was SUCCESSFUL.
and after :
Firmware Update Tool for device SCSI Disk on path 10/1/2/0.0.0.
The firmware file /var/tmp/PF_D36ESHP05.frm is corrupt and cannot be used to update the device.
Obtain an uncorrupted version of the file and try the update operation again.
I not understand because the cksum is good.
I have tried with the latest STM version and the problem occurs again.
Any ideas ?
Thinks for your help
Best regards

Re: Disk firmware upgarde failure
Where you obtained the HP05 disk firmware ?
The error clearly indicates the Firmware corruption . Try to obtain the good one .
FTP the file in BIN mode not in ASCII mode for FTP method.
Seems to be correct methods which you are following for the disk firmware upgradation .
Best of luck

Re: Disk firmware upgarde failure
Thanks for your response
But it's not a BIN or ASCII mode or FTP/HTTP donwload (I have tried all solutions). If there is a download corruption, the cksum of the PF_D36ESHP05.frm will not be good. But the cksum is the same like in documentation....
