Hardware Compatablity Question (DS 2300)
Anyway I have an PCI SCSI card P/N A5159-60001. I dont know much about all of this SCSI stuff. Is this the right SCSI card to drive the BBC assembly?
The Server is an HP-9000 rp7400.
Thoe other thing is the DipSwitched on the BCC Assemby.
I am going to use Mirror the drives so I think I want the Dip Switched set like this:
Bank one
#1 = on
#2 = off
Bank two
#1 = off
#2 = off
#3 = off
I will be mirroing the drived in pairs
0-8
1-9
2-10
3-11
4-12
5-13
6-14
This is my best guess. Is my thinking right on this?

Re: Hardware Compatablity Question (DS 2300)
It would be necessary to have all the scsi drive settings to answer this question.
The settings between the different scsi disk racks should not conflict.
ioscan -fnC disk
after hookup to see if all the disk shows up. Unfortuneatly if there is a conflict with existing disk, the result could be an immediate crash.
After getting past this hurdle once all disks are visible to the system you should be okay.
If this is the only rack of disks and not a second like I assummed then the setting don't matter unless they conflict with another scsi device.
isocan -fnC ctl
That output should enable you to identify the scsi controller and make sure you don't have a conflict between the JBOD and the scsi card.

Re: Hardware Compatablity Question (DS 2300)
Adding the New SCSI and Controller is have each one of the mirrored drives on different Controllers. Having mirrored drives all running on the same controller never made sence to me.
There is only one JBOD involved here so there should be no conflet. It is more on making sure the dip switched are correct.
and compatable with the hardware I have on the shelf to use.

Re: Hardware Compatablity Question (DS 2300)
The scsi card you have is a FWD card and you need an LVD one for the DS2300
A5159A = FWD scsi i/f
You need either
A5149A = Single port LVD I/F
A5150A = Dual port LVD I/F
The manuals for the settings and configuration can be found here for the ds2300

Re: Hardware Compatablity Question (DS 2300)
I have to agree with Andrew, you can not use the interface
BUT if your LVD SCSI port is not used on the rp7400 Core I/O, you can go a head and connect the DS2300 controller to it.
