Re: How many tracks on my hard disk ?
I'm not sure why anyone would need this since the controller deals with that automatically and you do NOT have the ability to change the settings... This is not an IDE drive...
But anyway...
Formatted Capacity (GB)
18.2
Cylinders
10,042
Heads
12
Sectors/Track
229 - 334 (24 Zones)
Bytes/Sector
512

Re: How many tracks on my hard disk ?
Thank very much for your reply.
Well, I don't find the average sustained rate for this disk on this web site.
So, I just wanted to compute it myself
avg sustained transfer rate = rpm / 60 * number of sectors per track *512
where number of sector per track = capacity / heads / cylinders / 512 = 360
So, avg sustained transfer rate = rpm / 60 * 360 * 512 = 30MB/s for sequential read
I those specs are important, and they should be available on this site...

Re: How many tracks on my hard disk ?
The firmware routines on the hard drive vary revolution speed/transfer rate depending on which track is being read - you can approimate, but accurately determining the transfer rate would require some lab equipment.
