How to add non HP disks to VA7400

Greetings,

I have VA7400 with DS2405 disk array.
Also I have 10 x 73Gb non HP FC disks.
Now these disks have 512 bytes sector size.

How can I add these disks to disk array?

Thanks in advance,
Maxim

You really can't put those in there - for several reasons... not the least of which is it would void your service contract (if you have one).

Other issues are: They MUST run HP firmware, be in an HP disk carrier, and be supported model drive for your FW level, etc.

So, in case you don't have a contract, and don't care about support, then...

If the drives happen to be the same manufacturer and model as others in your array, you would still have to flash the firmware to an HP version before they would be recognised by the array. This FW is not generally available, as far as I know.

Getting the drive carriers isn't really easy either - they come only with a drive in it.

So, there are a few logistical issues.

good luck,

Vince
