HP-6000 sx-w SCSI disks

Hello all,
This is a bit of an odd question, but does anyone know if these units could power themselves off (aka trip their power somehow)?
The situation is I came this morning and the unit was off. No power issues and it's all under lock and key in a controled environment. There were some people in there over the weekend, but I don't think they would have been in that area.
So basically I'm wondering if something could have caused it to power off or if I should be looking more into who would have been near it.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi, I was working with HP-9000 racked version, and was an issue with theses disks. If you remove the front pannel, when you put it in his place, is very easy to accidentaly push power button off.
Ask people that was this weekend working if they do that.

I don't know if these boxes have any temp alert that shut the power off or something similar. I don't think so.

Good Luck

My colleague is right, they are *extremely* easy to turn off accidentally. We they all off or just one? If one then a bad drive, if all then ask strenuously if any was even NEAR the drives. If it happens again, replace the power supply if it has one (you weren't too clear on the model #)

Re: HP-6000 sx-w SCSI disks

Hello Steve,

One additional twist to add to the power off scenerios listed above.

Sometimes, upon installation of the front panel, the power button is pressed down enough to cause it to mechanically overcome the 'power off path' inside the switch assembly. At that point, only the friction between the white switch cap and the front panel facia keeps the switch from fully extending and shuting down the power supply. Then, at some future date/time, just a simple 'bump' or 'adjustment' of the front panel facia sets the shutdown into motion.

Good Luck,
Curt
