NetServer LPr and D9421A disk Drive

I try to use a D9421A disk (18.2 GB 15000 rpm ultra 3 SCSI drive)in a old LPr Netserver. This HD is supported with LPr but system seems to not handle properly this disk. P1166A (18.2 GB 10000 rpm ultra 3 SCSI drive)works fine in this system. any idea ?
Thankx

Please define "handle properly" for us. For there is no reason why this disk or ANY disk for that matter, should not function.

Re: NetServer LPr and D9421A disk Drive

We have upgraded all the discs firmware. The olds 9.1 (P1168A) and 18.2 Gb (P1166A) 10000rpm work always very well (even those that stay with CX02 firmware), but new 18.2 Gb discs (D9421A) 15000rpm are always unrecognized during boot (even with latest firmware).

Here are boot messages (displayed only after 7 minutes) :

Symbios, Inc. SDMS (TM) V4.0 PCI SCSI BIOS, PCI Rev. 2.0, 2.1
Copyright 1995, 1998 Symbios Inc.
PCI-4.14.04

HP 0 1 0 18.2 GB C80-8C44 8 NO

Maybe that these discs are not recognized by firmware of the LSI 53C895 host adapter.

We made some other tests on other servers : all are LPr (D9435AV), I have six of them on this site but I made the test only on 3 and result remains the same: slowness in boot process when host adapter scan SCSI bus, then no D9421A recognized. I made test with one 9.1 Gb (P1168A) and one 18.2 Gb (D9421A), two 18.2 Gb (D9421A) , two 18.2 Gb (P1166A and D9421A) and only one 18.2 Gb (D9421A) it does not change anything, 18.2 Gb (D9421A) are never recognized.

It has been a while, and we do not know if you will get this but .....
Did you ever get a resolution on this issue? We never were able to duplicate your result using our 18GB 15K soultion. Of course we would never update a firmware of a drive, it is not supported by the drive manufactures.
