Hello,I have a dual loop fibre channel setup with lsi logic and qlogic adapters and two seagate 318452 fc hard disks with linux os.It works great.I have added another 318452fc but I this time with hp05 firmware and rebranded by hp.The disk is recognized but system sees it as zero sized (even seagate tools sees it as zero sized). What can I do? It is broken? Can I upgrade firmware? Any hints? Thanks in advance for any reply.

Solution
We have seen this before. The drive has probably been in another system and been removed during a re-stripping operation. We resolve these issues by using the controller to low level format the drive. you may also want to use the Seagate Tool to load the latest Seagate firmware and get rid of the often predated HP firmware.

Re: Problems with ST318452FC with HP firmware
Ok thank you very much now it works. Please tell me if a new firmware is needed or if it has great advantages because it seems to me that upgrading firmware is dangerous and seagate firmware updates are not public. Please note that my drive has not only hp firmware but it has also hp brand on it.Thanks again
