replacing FC drive on DS2405

Hi!

Please can anyone explain to me the step by step procedure to replace a faulty FC drive on a DS2405 attached to a rp7410 with two fc controllers.

Re: replacing FC drive on DS2405

Hi!

From what I understood that document is related to replacing any drive with respect with O.S., first I believe that I have to use commands like fcmsutil to isolate the disk: that's the part that I dont understand.

It just works as a normal SCSI disk.

No need to isolate the disk

Re: replacing FC drive on DS2405

Hi!

Sorry again, look what I've been told, please correct:

1. # fcmsutil /dev/td1 get remote all
2. look for target state=DVS_UNOPENED
3. Note Nport ID
4. # fcmsutil /dev/td1 replace_dsk get remote all
5. Now use the procedure described on the link supplied by you.

Re: replacing FC drive on DS2405

Here is an overview about the steps (I assume you will do this online with HP-UX):

- locate the failed disk
- replace it
- run ioscan (you will see it stiil as NO_HW)
- view syslog file
- run fcmsutil /dev/tdx replace_dsk 0xnnnn
- run ioscan again (CLAIMED)
- restore the LVM config and sync the mirror

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
